You are giving people WAY too much credit! I'm almost SURE that most of the things that people say are things that they think of to fill the space when they are sitting with people. But hey... You spoke the gosple when you said, "it depends on the person speaking"
There is so much communication that subtly exists between people without the use of words: i.e. body language, energy flow, facial expression, etc. Sadly, sometimes these signals gets foggy or lost when people attempt to verbally express their opinions, emotions, etc. Yet that being said, words hold immeasurable power. What if there was no poetry, no literature or written science? Knowledge is conveniently exchanged thanks to verbal and written words. We couldn’t even have this discussion without words! On another note, think about the fact that if the English language didn’t have a word for…I don’t know, “elephant”, native English speakers would have a hard time understanding what an elephant is. (Perhaps a better example is the Native Americans and their lack of understanding of the word “ownership” until European arrival.) What would happen if we were to have no words for …Fear, Hate, Insecurity, Abandonment, etc. On yet another note, check out the work of Masaru Emoto, (if you haven’t already) and how words, ideas, or thoughts effect water. I don’t remember the percentage of the human body that is water…help me out here, but I think it’s more than 70. All in all, yea, sometimes we all need to shut the hell up, sit, be still, and listen to the silence so we can really HEAR each other and our own spirits. But that being said, when we choose to speak, how much better would the world be if our words consisted of only love, acceptance, and joy? :-D I know this went off into a few different tangents, and quite possibly the original intent of your blog has no relation to what I’m talking about. You probably meant something more along the lines of…okay if I look at you like your stupid and I think in my head that your dumb, do I really have to SAY your stupid, or is it possible you can figure it out? (okay, bad example, cuz if your stupid, you probably can’t figure it out, lol.) Or you may be referring to the petty and meaningless small talk syndrome that infects humanity like a disease. “Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.” But anyways, the fact that this may not be your original intent is I guess in itself the mystery and beauty of words, I suppose. Maybe we’re all just in a constant state of miscommunication. Damn, I shoulda stopped while I was still optimistic. Lol.
“People say conversation is a lost art; how often I have wished it were.”
“The problem with communication ... is the illusion that it has been accomplished.”
if people talk hopefuly it's because they have something to say, but i guess it would depend one the person speaking

ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say it's credit I'd say it's more of a personal hope that not every one is full of shit all the time.
